Friday was Shavuot, the Festival of Weeks.

Shavuot celebrates G*
d's giving of the Torah to Moses and the Israelites, ends the 7 week observance of the Omar (or period of exile in Egypt which begins with Passover), and honors the customary festivities of the first seasonal harvest. Everywhere people decorate with flowers and symbolically eat seasonal fruits. (
Like a perfect storm of flowers, religious fervor, and hippiedom,
Amelia's dream world was finally met with the real one - before an eyelash could be bat, flowers were everywhere. By the end of the day, there were more flowers in, on, and around our house than at my wedding.
Amelia was in heaven.)
Below are pictures from Amelia's
gan...notice how her headpiece grew in extravagance throughout the day...apparently "
daddy is no good at this kind of stuff, I need mom to beautify me!" so, on our way home we picked flowers from nearly every neighbor's yard (
sorry neighbors!). In fact we spent the entire afternoon walking, exploring, and picking flowers.
Mom was in heaven.
the final product:

the progression:

an argument over who has prettier flowers ensues...hence, the need for further work...

finally success:)

Fearing her sister's wrath, Amelia decided to share her disregarded headpiece with Anna after a few embellishments - it actually worked out quite nicely since Anna's favorite color is blue...

Happy Shavuot!
